Fitting a point-cloud

Hi, I'm looking for a solution to fit a captured 2D-pointcloud into a given pattern of 2D-points. As result I expect the X/Y-translation and the rotation-angle. In our System we can use python 2.7 and openCV 2.4.9 or 3.0.0 I've no experience to work with openCV. But I've years experience with industrial visionsystems.
